When some parents heard this, a lot of them were surprised. I even get
replies like, "but isn't "O" levels the most important???" or "No, that's
silly. The most important one is University examination" Well, thinking in
that way could be the biggest mistake you could make for your child's
future.
Education plays a very important part in our children's lives
 and future.
Without a good qualification, our children will have tougher time to get better jobs with better salary. In this changing
time and in Singapore without a good qualification our children will have to struggle through life succumbing to the ferocity of life. You have heard of
people going through such plight, you may even know some of these people.
You would not your child to suffer because of a mistake made now, would you?
A mistake made since primary school; since PSLE!
It is an undeniable fact; PSLE affects your child's whole life.
Academically, it determines whether your child enters Express, Normal
(Academic) or Normal (Technical) stream, good schools or not so good
schools. Psychologically, it also determines whether your child will
continue to have confident in his studies and whether they will be motivated
to want to do well in school and in life!
Academically, if your child does badly in PSLE, he/she would inadvertently
end up in a tail end class where usually, more time is spent on class
management (such as disciplining and controlling the students) rather than
teaching. In such classes, your child also does not have a good and
conducive environment to learn. If your child is not taught how to manage
him/herself and to have self-discipline, he/she would not only do badly in
the studies but also probably lose interest completely, in studies and even
their own future.
The
worst damage would be done psychologically where our children will have to
suffer the social stigma of being in such "lousy" classes. They will be
deemed as "slower" than others. They would feel that studying is a hopeless
chore for them to complete, and may even choose to accept that they are
"stupid". Their self-esteem would be shattered. When they reach this state,
it would be an uphill climb for them to pick themselves up again. Can you
imagine the agony that they have to go through? Imagine the pain and regrets
that you suffer together with them.
Sure, we have stories of students from tail end classes whom have managed to
suddenly catch up and do well in life. BUT, realistically speaking, are
there really that many such success stories? Or are such cases just like an
oasis in a barren desert? You know the answer. Don't risk the future of your
child. Make a smart move.
PSLE needs to be taken seriously. Give them the gift of learning how to
learn and how to achieve what they want because you and your child decide to
do so. My 24 years of teaching
tells me that children who consistently do well in their studies have either
been taught how to do so since they were young or they have picked up the
such good habit by observation and discovery. Start them young that was the
time when they form good habits easier; they learn how to change and do so
later on in life. Form the habits now, learn the how to skills now so that
they can enjoy the process of growing up. Therefore, we should teach our
children the how-tos NOW!

Tailored specifically for primary school kids, the Smart KidsTM
is modeled after our extremely effective Super-Teen Holiday Camps. Our
program has empowered students to excel in schools since 1986.
Program Duration
Smart KidsTM is an interactive, four-day exploration
non-residential program for Primary school children (P3 to P6) where its
holistic curriculum provides learning in a fun and flexible format.

The Smart KidsTM program has been adapted for children aged 9-12.
In this age group, the program is tailored to suit their very inquisitive
young minds.
Academic Skills
These are the "How-to-Learn" skills that are essential for academic
excellence.
Super-Memory
We believe there is no poor memory, only a trained or an untrained one.
One of the best parts of the Smart KidsTM program:
understanding and application of the principles of memory.
Children will learn proven systems to use their vast but untapped memory
capacity for remembering facts, figures, names, languages, text-books
and examinations materials. This new skill will especially enhance, the
ability to learn vocabulary and thus help in the studying of any
subject.
Spidergram
Participants will learn this improved and more powerful version of Mind
Maps. It allows them to compress their syllabus into just a sheet of
paper, which makes revision much quicker.
Speed Reading
Participants will master three types of reading: These 3 techniques are
flexible and can be used according to the need or the type of reading
material. This essential unique skill also builds better comprehension
and improves recall in reading. Participants will be able to read at
least 4 times their current average reading speed.
Learning Vocabulary
Having a vast vocabulary is one step closer to helping the child do well
in all subjects. The participants will learn how to learn vocabulary
Story Grid
Before children can write well, they must know the correct writing
format and structure. What do the examiners want to see? They will be
taught the necessary skills to excel in their writing.
Secrets of Visual Writing Skills
Children will be amazed at how easily they can write creative and
flowing essays.
Thinking Skill
In our current education system, children need to be able to think
critically and creatively. That is exactly how they will be trained to
think in the program.
Personal
Skills
Just as important as the "How-to" skills, participants
must know the "Why" behind it. Why do they study? Is it to do well in
exams? Perhaps. The real reason for studying should be to enable oneself
to have more choices in life.
Once they see the "Why", it will create the fuel to drive them tenaciously
on. They will tackle problems that school and life will throw at them,
something that is never taught in a normal classroom environment.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
Techniques
Six powerful step-by-step techniques that will enable the student to
analyse the situation, identify the problem, evolve solutions creatively
and formulate alternative strategies to reach the desired state.
Goal-Setting
At this age, children will love to discover their directions and purpose
in life, how to determine exactly what they want and set realistic goals
with step-by-step strategies to achieve them.
Self-Esteem and Self-Worth
This is the most valuable and worthwhile benefit of going through our
programs. They will be constantly nurtured, developed and expanded by
our faculty of superb, caring trainers and resources. When they learn to

Should children organise their own routines, some parents think so, some
don't. Well, in the program, they will learn how to do just that, to be
as independent as possible. That would give Dad and Mum more peace of

Follow up System
Smart
KidsTM came up with a follow up system specifically to address
the issue of keeping the children motivated and to put into practice the
skills and knowledge taught in the camp for their everyday use in school
and at home.
Parenting session
Parents will be taught on how to continue to motivate the Graduate after
the program.
Dads and Mums will also be
advised on the effective ways to deal with their children in order to
forge closer relationships.
Parent-Child Counseling
When the need arises, such counseling sessions can be arranged to
address the issues, be they educational or family related.
Oasis Application Classes
We understand that after an empowering course, students will want to
stay focused and inspired. The 'Oasis' Application Classes were designed
around the 3 'R's: Recharge, Refresh, Renew
Our objectives: To conduct a total of 12 lessons
for Graduates of the Super-TeensTM and Smart KidsTM programs to empower
them with the necessary tools, attitudes and habits for them to excel in
their examinations.
Oasis would first seek to empower Graduates with
the key for them to gain awareness. The Graduates will apply and
practice the skills that they learnt in the programs and in due course,
attain mastery.
Genius Student Circle
The Genius Student Circle (GSC) serves as a networking circle to allow
Graduates to keep abreast of the latest happenings or even to share
anecdotes in our ever-expanding family. We welcome all Super-TeensTM and
Smart KidsTM Graduates to keep in contact with each other here.
